RE: Spam in the can
It was pretty clear for a little while, but now we have a new add for HP laptops. This one seems a bit different, though. The name follows the same pattern.

Perhaps they are rethinking their strategy? Have they generated any hits here, or just a thread about how to get rid of them?

Dunno. Perhaps someone misclicked. We are almost surely very high in their target list, as evidenced by mamually adjusting the bot to write an "introduction" in the welcome abroad thread... perhaps even posting stuff by hand. ( I am not sure but the two here 2 help guys, the one declaring that he is NOT a spambot and giving a referal to another who wanted a marketing section on the forum in his introducrion are suspicious )
don' know why they think spamming us is so important that they spend so much of their time on us.

Thanks to our new member, RayPaddick, it does appear that the 'true deluge' may now be upon us.

Thirteen new threads in welcome aboard, and one being written in off topic.

Not just your opinion. It is really nice of the spammers to focus just on the forums for welcoming and off topic, I must say.

RE: Spam in the can
Found a spammer. Vada12Y97. posted a thread, I thought the title said "Payload loan" Which I thought was a thread talking about getting a loan to pay for payload cost. But it actually says "payday loans" and start with a link to payday loans website, and then it says "home repair can be difficult specially if you do not have any idea at all about what you are doing,"

Certain its a spambot. Banning and deleting thread.

RE: Spam in the can
I have the forum set to auto prune users who don't post or activate the account within 2 days, so spambots are deleted after two days provided they don't post.

However, one certain spambot has been busy, posting 5 thread about a Russian porn site. Threw me off a bit, but I took care of it. Hopefully we don't have a lot more like it.
